Work it out, Mama! {{East Texas Adventure Bootcamp Giveaway}}

{Let me preface this post with something. I set my alarm at 4:20 a.m., first of all. There’s that. I just want you guys to know how committed I am to the readers of this blog that I even considered and then actually completed a 5:15 bootcamp class. I’ll be honest, I was nervous and not looking forward to an early wakeup. Especially since I have a 3 month old and we aren’t sleeping through the night yet! Haha. BUT. I have to admit, I LOVED IT!}

So, let me just fill you in on what an actual class experience looks like at East Texas Adventure Bootcamp

You arrive to a warm smile and welcome from the owner, Melanie Edwards, who I happen to be friends with and adore. She is quite precious and makes you feel special from the minute you step inside the gym. I’m not sure what time she gets to the gym to prep, but you can tell she loves everything about what she does. This is not just a job for her, it’s certainly her passion. We’ll talk more about that in a bit. She showed me around, where to get the weights I would need and even where to stand. You could tell it was her top priority to make me feel comfortable. People drifted in slowly, but by 5:15, there was a full house! I was seriously impressed that so many actually chose to get up that early and come to this. Like every day of the week. I was anxious to get started to see what it was all about! Class began right at 5:15 with some warmups and then Melanie explained what the plan of action was for the day. She dedicates a day for each muscle group and it was LEG.DAYIMG_3357After thoroughly explaining the upcoming workout, the stations and how it all would work, we got started! She made sure I was paired with someone that was knowledgable and could help me out along the way. Station after station passed and I was working up a sweat. Y’all I did bear crawls and turned over tires…it was legit. My legs were yelling at me, so I knew I was working them out well. I also knew that I was going to be quite sore in the days to come! But, interesting thing was, I was having so much fun! The two ladies who I worked out with were so kind and helpful. We chatted, worked hard and encouraged one another along the way. Before I knew it, it was all done and we were doing some stretches to close out class. I had done it! And I felt amazing about it. Everyone there was so nice. People were laughing throughout, high fiving and chatting about life. Things got livelier as the morning progressed. You could tell this group was more like a family…doing life together as they better themselves each day. It was neat to see and be a part of.IMG_3358

So, here’s the thing. I would HIGHLY recommend this bootcamp to anyone interested! I was thoroughly impressed. And guess what? If 5:15 a.m. is not your jam, there is also a 6:30 a.m. class as well as a 6:00 p.m. class! Bootcamps are structured in 4 week segments and they encourage people to come as many days of the week as possible to get the best results from it.

After the class, I asked Melanie some questions. She so beautifully answered them, I just had to share. And since she can explain all of this better than I could, I wanted to give you her words to describe it all to do it justice!

12376197_10206949828359129_6656110782960785315_n What is your mission?
“It’s really neat to sit here and answer this question for you!  It’s now been nearly eight years that I have been a part of this fitness family and I’ve worked hard at perfecting my craft in helping people transform their lives.  To be honest, my mission has changed over the years.  I mean, in the beginning I was hired as a part-time trainer.  I never dreamed that this program would change my life.  I was doubtful and I had so much to learn.  I didn’t have a whole lot of confidence in myself, but I was itching to find purpose in my life.  Thankfully, someone believed I had what it took to be a game changer for other people.  Looking back I am in awe.  It’s been my “job” to help shape others, but really, Adventure Boot Camp has shaped me.  This past year has been very eye-opening for me and now that I am a MOM, my vision and purpose is more clear than ever! Luckily, I have another amazing trainer, Sarah, who’s devoted to helping me with my mission and we make a great team!  We also have our incredible fitness family that brings so much excitement and motivating energy to our classes.  All of us combined, help us accomplish our mission in helping the people of our community ACTIVELY pursue the desires of their heart – because we know that when you are challenging yourself physically there are many other doors that open up and you become more and more aware of what you’re doing and what you’re capable of.  Our mission is to help people gain strength in all areas of their life.  The possiblities are endless!”
What would you say is the most beneficial thing about bootcamp?
“Aside from the physical things that can happen when you attend Adventure Boot Camp (lose unwanted body fat, fit in your favorite skinny jeans, lose your baby weight, reduce the amount of medication you are taking, set healthier habits for your family, and so much more), I personally think one of the most beneficial things someone can earn from attending Adventure Boot Camp is the fact that while they are working so hard to lose weight and become healthier, they are actually gaining more self-appreciation, love and compassion.  Working hard and sticking with it is HARD.  But when you’re surrounded by the best kind of encouragement you can find, it becomes less hard.  It becomes fun and motivating.  Once you get a taste of a happier life, it just becomes the kind of medicine you can’t live without.  That’s what Adventure Boot Camp has done for me.  It’s given me peace and determination.  It’s given me confidence and motivation.  It’s inspired me to never give up — and that is what I am purposefully giving back!  So, in short, the most beneficial thing earned from attending Adventure Boot Camp is a better understanding of who you are, what you’re doing, and throughout the entire process, learning that you are capable of change, self-love and happiness.”

    My favorite way to workout is taking a Spin class. I have gained a lot of weight since having the baby :/ I’m thinking maybe a boot camp is a great idea to kickstart myself back into regular exercise!
