Weekend Guide

Holiday season is in full swing and December is a busy month in East Texas.  With so many local events happening, we want to be your guide to planning the weekend.

December 8-9:  Jefferson Flea Market | 8:00am to 5:00pm  Located at 213 W. Broadway Street, Jefferson, Texas 75657.  The Jefferson Flea Market is evolving into one of the better Flea Markets in East Texas. Since opening over a year ago, the Jefferson Flea Market is growing, with an increase in both the number of visitors and vendors. Open year round on Friday and Saturday the First and Third weekend of every month and occasionally  on Sunday when there is a holiday or special events on the following Monday.  

December 8-9:  A Pineywoods Christmas | 4 – 9 p.m.  Tyler State Park  Folks, don’t miss the lights… a PINEYWOODS CHRISTMAS at Tyler State Park this Friday and Saturday, December 8th and 9th.  There will be a guided hike around the lake beginning at 4pm each afternoon led by park interpreter Boyd Sanders. RV campgrounds will be lit up and decorated for Christmas. Take a drive through them or park and walk through (which we recommend). The Silver Canoe Park Store will be decorated for the Christmas season. All items in the store will be discounted 20% and there will be cookies and hot chocolate for the kiddos. This is an easy and inexpensive family outing. No long lines and expensive entry fees. Half price entry: $3.00 per person 13 and up. 12 and under are free!!

December 8:  Jingle & Mingle | 5 – 8 p.m. Nacogdoches, Texas  Join us in Downtown Nacogdoches for our annual Jingle and Mingle. We have revamped the previous years events to make this the biggest downtown shopping event of the season by adding food trucks, live entertainment, and more. Participating stores will be open late so you can mark plenty of people off your Christmas list. Take a stroll downtown on December 8 and you will be sure to get into the Christmas spirit!

December 8:  Movie Night – Polar Express | 6 – 9 p.m. Lindale, Texas The Parks and Rec Board of the City of Lindale is hosting a Movie in the Park night at Darden Harvest Park – Friday, December 8, 2017 at dusk. Wear your pajamas and bring chairs and blankets. Refreshments available for purchase.

December 9:  Breakfast with the Grinch and Pictures with Santa and Mrs. Clause | 9 – 11 a.m. Fresh by Brookshires, Tyler, Texas Join us for a FREE picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Breakfast with the Grinch, and Cookie decorating! This fun and festive morning will be one you won’t forget! Breakfast prices:  Pancakes, bacon, eggs, and fruit for $8, Kids regular pancake $1.99, Hot chocolate $1

December 9:  Breakfast With Santa | 9 – 11 a.m. Villa di Felicita, Tyler, Texas We are so excited about our 3rd Annual Breakfast with Santa event! This year we will have some new and excting things for you and your kiddos to enjoy! 
Tickets on sale now! $20 per child, $15 per adult and children under 1 free! Tickets include: A downloadable digital photo with Santa by photography By Gema, Yummy Breakfast provided by Azalea Catering, Decorate a cookie (sponsored by Sister to sister cookies), a take home craft for the kids and story time with Santa and Mrs Clause! For an additional price, we will have Gusters Gormet pops selling some North Pole pops!! You don’t want to miss this fun event for the whole family!!! Call 903.597.0002 for tickets!

December 9:  Saturday’s with the Santa cow | 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Tyler, Texas The Santa Cow will be at Chick-fil-A Broadway Crossing 9:30am-10:30am Saturday’s in December!

December 9:  Holiday in the Garden | 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Tyler Rose Garden Join us at the Rose Garden for a fun-filled day of shopping, train rides and all things holiday!

December 9:  Santa Paws | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge, Tyler, Texas Santa Paws will be visiting our refuge! Come on out for pictures, hot cocoa, story time, and more!

December 9:  Cookies & Coco With Santa | Noon – 2 p.m. Tyler Athletic and Swim Club Tyler, Texas Looking for family friendly, holiday fun!? Bring the kiddos to the Club for a complimentary photo with Santa! We will also be featuring fun holiday themed crafts along with cookies and hot cocoa!

December 9: Blue Santa Crawl | 2 – 10 p.m. Downtown Tyler, Texas EGuideMagazine.com & VisitTyler.com presents The 1st Annual BLUE SANTA CRAWL Benefitting The FOP Tyler Blue Santa Program. 
Purchase a ticket to sponsor a child, then go to the official starting location and pick up your Lanyard and Blue Santa T-Shirt, then “Crawl” around Downtown Tyler to pick up Pieces of Your Costume! 
There will be a Group Photo at 6pm.

For all the Elves (2-5pm), come out and visit Innovation Pipeline, Discovery Science Place, Goodman Museum, Tyler Library, Downtown Square and much much more!

For all the Santas, come celebrate the evening having fun and making a difference this holiday season.

December 9:  Free Portrait with Santa | 4 – 6 p.m. Tyler, Texas Santa will be at the new Dairy Queen located at Loop 323 and Hwy 31 on December 9th from 4pm to 6pm. Don’t miss the opportunity to capture that perfect Christmas family picture with Santa!

December 9:  Lights in the Garden | 5 – 8 p.m. Tyler Rose Garden Come see the Rose Garden decked out in lights for the Holiday season! On select evenings in December, the Tyler Rose Garden will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. for special viewings! It is FREE and fun for the WHOLE family!

December 9:  Deck the Halls with Buddy Holly | 7 – 9 p.m. Liberty Hall, Tyler, Texas Join us for a Rockin’ Blue Christmas with the Johnny Rogers Show! Johnny will pay tribute to such artists as Buddy Holly, Elvis, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ricky Nelson, Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash and many more! Johnny is the most versatile performer in America today and has played for the last four U.S. Presidents. He was voted best of show two years in a row in Branson Missouri. In September 2016, he was inducted into the Iowa Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame. Johnny captures the infectious spirit, freewheeling excitement, and thrilling sounds of a singular moment with his extraordinary talent for a show that will raise the roof and bring you back to your youth! December 10:  Lake Country Symphonic Band Christmas Concert | 2 p.m. Mineola, Texas The Historic Select Theater 114 N Johnson St, Mineola, Texas 75773

December 10:  Winter Festival | 3 – 5 p.m. The Grove Tyler, Texas Gather the whole family and head to the Grove, where Mr. & Mrs. Clause are stopping for a meet and greet! You’ll have the opportunity to take pictures with Santa and enjoy a live musical performance by the Magills! Children will be treated to story time with Mrs. Claus while enjoying some our delicious, cookies and milk! For the older crowd, we’ll have a special milk punch for adults. Boost your holiday spirit and join us Sunday, Dec. 10th from 3-5pm. Admission is $15 per person, free for kiddos 2 and under.

December 10:  Christmas Parade of Lights and Courthouse Lighting Ceremony | 7 – 9 p.m. Palestine, Texas  Beautiful floats march through Old Town and downtown Palestine when the Christmas Parade of Lights set sail to the delight of hundreds of residents and visitors. Let the spirit of the season embrace you as the historic Anderson County Courthouse comes alive for the holiday season.
