November is a busy month in East Texas.  With so many local events happening, we want to be your guide to planning the weekend.

November 24: Athens Turkey Trot | 8 a.m. Join us for the 18th annual Athens Turkey Trot at the Cain Center in Athens, Texas. 

November 24:  Walk Off The Bird | 9 a.m. – Noon Tyler State Park Walk off that Thanksgiving feast and enjoy the bird life of the East Texas Pineywoods. Not a birder? No problem, there’s no better time to learn. Bring your binoculars or we have a few loaners, good walking shoes, dress for the weather, and be ready for a 2 mile walk. Meet at the Silver Canoe Park Store. A walk in the woods always beats crowded shopping centers.

November 24:  Grinch’s Lair | Noon – 6 p.m. Historic Anderson County Jail The Grinch’s Lair is a fun, festive experience. You’ll be greeted by our Who’s Who of Whoville before being sent up into the lair. There you’ll get a tour with Mr. Grinch through his Texas Jail House Lair.You never know what ridiculousness he’ll be up to! Tickets : $10.

November 24:  The North Pole of Texas Opening Night | 6 p.m. Pickton, Texas Hello everyone we hope that you will come out this year to the North Pole Of Texas and see all the lights and ride the train. Don’t forget Santa, will be out in the Toy Shop with all his working elves getting the presents ready for Christmas.  Make sure and stop by the Hot Chocolate Factory while wating in line. There is so much to see, so check out our website and we hope to see you soon. Merry Christmas from our Family to yours. November 24:  Up In Lights Opening Night | 6 – 11 p.m. Tyler, Texas Join us for Opening Night at Tyler’s Up In Lights Christmas Light Park! With over 1,000,000 Lights & Counting, Tyler Lights is the place to make lasting Christmas Memories for the whole Family. Over a mile of Traditional & Spectacular LED Light shows awaits you at the best little light park in East Texas! $20 Per Vehicle, $5 OFF With the Donation of Canned Goods, benefitting the Salvation Army. No buses or trailers, Please. Standard Church type vans are allowed. Maximum Height Limit of 8 feet 6 inches.

November 25:  Fall Outdoor Activities | 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Daingerfield State Park   Bring the family and enjoy this beautiful time of year

November 25:  Open Farm Day | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. At  Half Pint Farm!!! PETTING ZOO, PONY RIDES, AND PICTURES WITH SANTA!!!  (photo packages may be pre-purchased through A Little Love Photography by Alicia- Tyler and East Texas Photographer Spots are limited, and may not be available without pre-purchasing.) Bring the family out to play with our sweet farm friends and ride a pony!!! November 25:  Santa’s Workshop | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Historic Palestine Main Street District  Join us in the Historic Palestine Main Street District at Santa’s Workshop where you can have your picture taken with Santa, play with toys and trains and write a letter to Santa.

November 25:  Small Business Saturday | 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Downtown Tyler, Texas  Come to #DowntownTyler the Saturday after Thanksgiving to celebrate locally owned enterprise during Small Business Saturday! Our downtown neighborhood is an officially designated participant in this nationwide recognition of locally owned small businesses. Treat yourself – and those on your gift list – to locally produced gifts, clothing, collectibles, art, food, drink, and so very much more! Keep checking for updates on participants and special features!

November 25:  Home for the Holidays | 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Pittsburg, Texas A full day to kick off the Christmas season. Including an ice skating rink, open air market, a special visit by some very special Disney characters and Christmas movies in the Plaza.

November 25:  Wassail Fest | 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Nacogdoches, Texas  Here we go a-wassailing! Drop on down and give the wassail a whirl! Downtown merchants will once again be competing for bragging rights for the best holiday brew during Wassail Fest, a highlight of the 21st annual Nine Flags Christmas Festival. The event will be from 11AM to 3 PM Saturday, November 25th. Wassail will be served at various locations inside the Nacogdoches Historic Downtown District. A list of participating merchants can be picked up at Visitor Center in the square. Once you try all the wassail you can handle, make sure to drop your vote in the ballot box of your favorite brew. Wassail winner will be announced on this page and on the Nacogdoches Main Street Facebook Page. Don’t forget: While you are here, finish up your Christmas shopping at downtown stores and get your loved ones those items you can only find when you shop local! This FREE EVENT is a great way to warmly welcome the holiday shopper into the festive season. We hope to see you there!

November 25:  Wassail Walk & Small Business Saturday | 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Marshall, Texas  Join us for our 3rd Annual Wassail Walk in conjunction with Small Business Saturday! Wassail will be served at various shops, stores, and restaurants in historic downtown Marshall. Come warm your body and spirit by sampling the recipes, which will be judged on both taste and presentation. Participating merchants will also be competing for the coveted People’s Choice award. Wassail is a hot drink that is made with either wine, beer, or cider, spices, sugar, and usually baked apple pies.It is tradtionally served from a large bowl, especially at Christmastime. Wassail Walk participants each put their own twists on the recipes, which are heavily guarded secrets among the cooks. 

November 25:  Mingle & Jingle | 6 – 9 p.m. Kilgore, Texas  Come dine and shop under the Stars of Downtown Kilgore! It will be an evening of shopping, eating, fun and entertainment as Downtown Kilgore merchants and restaurants host Mingle & Jingle 2017! This is downtown’s annual #SmallBusinessSaturday celebration, bolstering ‘Mingle & Jingle’s’ offerings post-Turkey Day. Several merchants will offer refreshments.  The party starts at 6 p.m. with merchants open all day. Restaurants will also be open with holiday specials. The scene will be merry for all of those who are starting their holiday shopping. Downtown Kilgore will be transformed into a holiday wonderland with fantastic Christmas lights and holiday fun all season long.
